Celebrating Girls’ Leadership on the International Day of the Girl
A Powerful Event by CARAH Women Foundation
CARAH Women Foundation, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (West Zone) and the Education Department of Delhi, organized an inspiring celebration on 13 October 2025 at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Vikas Puri, to mark the International Day of the Girl under the global theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.”
The event aligned with the Government of India’s campaign “Swasth Nari: Sashakt Parivar” and highlighted the role of girls as future leaders driving health, equity, and social change.

Highlights and Voices of Inspiration
The event was inaugurated by Col. Vinod Atri, Deputy Commissioner, MCD (West Zone), who motivated students to be fearless, confident, and resilient.

Dr. Roopa, Founder and Managing Director, CARAH Women Foundation, emphasized that “When girls rise, the nation shines,” calling for collective efforts to build a society where every girl can learn, lead, and thrive.

Dr. Sujeet Singh, Former Director, NCDC, and Dr. Rajni Kant, Chair, Disease Elimination, ICMR, appreciated CARAH’s strategic vision and its role in supporting government health and education programs.The event was coordinated by (Capt.) N.R. Tuli, District Health Officer (West Zone).


Interactive Learning & Empowerment
Students participated in engaging sessions on adolescent health, hygiene, gender sensitization, mental well-being, and community-based vector-borne disease prevention, led by CARAH experts - Dr. Jayanti Singh, Dr. B.N. Nagpal, Mrs. Gunamrit Kaur, (Capt.) N.R. Tuli, and Dr. Aditi Singh.

A quiz and leadership session conducted by Dr. Rajni Kant, Chair, Disease Elimination (ICMR), on “Swasth Nari, Swasth Bharat” brought out the girls’ confidence, knowledge, and leadership potential. The event concluded with certificate distribution recognizing student champions.

Exhibition & Awareness Drive
An informative exhibition on dengue and malaria prevention was organized by the MCD West Zone Health Department team, displaying mosquito life stages and IEC materials that captured the students’ curiosity and participation.
Media Coverage & Impact
The event received positive media attention for its innovative approach to promoting girls’ leadership and health awareness at the grassroots level. It was widely appreciated by education and health departments for its participatory learning model and collaboration.
